Birds of a Feather?

A different kind of infographic.

An Interactive Experience

Most infographics have a look. You know the one. They are clean, minimal, candy colored, and sterile. My goal was to see if I could convey information in a different way. Could present information effectively and still keep my designs organic, raw, textured and gritty. The result is what I like to refer to as an “anti- infographic”. The information is still there, but all the things that you come to expect are gone.

So Many Ways to Explore

I’m a hands on learner. I imagine a lot of other people are too. My goal with this project was to create a way for users to get information not only visually, but with pieces they can interact with. The main poster has a metal backing to which the three magnetic birds attach. Each bird can be pulled off to reveal information underneath, and on the reverse side. Each of the magnetically attached birds is life sized. You can tell by holding them how they compare with each other. The most exciting feature is the sound effects. Press the button and the piece will issue a real bird call.
